Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that a block of Market Street in Halifax will be closed for about a two-week period starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, to facilitate the installation and operation of a construction crane.
The street will be closed between Sackville and Prince streets, however, there will be construction staff on site to accommodate access to the two businesses on that block. The closure goes into effect at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will remain in place until about 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The municipality is hopeful that the sidewalk can remain open through most of this work but it may be that it will have to shut down completely for short periods due to safety reasons. There will be no parking on that block of Market Street while it’s closed.
The municipality appreciates the impact that extended street closures can have on local businesses and the public and we apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause.
