A man has been charged after an incident this morning in Halifax.

At 11:10 a.m., officers responded to the Guardian Pharmacy at 205 Herring Cove Road for a robbery call. A 45-year-old woman had just left the pharmacy after obtaining prescription drugs when she was approached by a man who sprayed her with a sensory irritant before taking the drugs and fleeing on foot. Officers arrived quickly on scene and arrested the suspect nearby. Both the sensory irritant and the stolen drugs were recovered.

A 47-year-old man is facing a charge of robbery. He was released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
