Officers have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred overnight in Dartmouth.

At 1:20 a.m., officers responded to the 0-100 Block of Brule Street for a weapons complaint. An 18-year-old man sitting in the driver’s seat of his car was approached by a man who threatened him and the two other occupants of the vehicle with a knife. The suspect demanded that the victim turn over his car keys while holding the knife to his throat. The victim gave the suspect his keys, who then fled on foot but was later arrested at a nearby apartment without incident. No one was injured during the incident and the knife used in the robbery was recovered. This was not a random act as the people involved are known to one another.

Twenty-year-old Shakeem Quindelle Johnson-Carvery of Westphal is facing charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, uttering threats and breach of a court order. He was held in custody overnight and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
