At approximately 9:10 p.m. on March 5, Halifax Regional Police officers attended the Subway on Alma Crescent in Halifax in relation to a hold-up alarm. Upon arrival it was learned that two male youth stole an undetermined amount of money from the tip jar. Staff at Subway confronted the youth after watching the theft on video. One of the youth pulled out a folding hunting knife and threatened a customer and staff. The youth put the knife away, but then a physical altercation took place with staff and youth. One of the staff members was injured during the altercation with non-life-threatening injures.
Upon police arrival both of the youth were taken into custody and will be appearing in youth court later today. The youth are facing charges of robbery, assault causing bodily harm and assault.
