SiRT- Halifax Regional Police Officer Investigated for Assault

A Halifax Regional Police Officer is under investigation for an alleged assault that took place on the evening of February 25th, 2018. The incident occurred at the Metro Turning Point shelter and involved a 54-year-old male who sustained facial injuries including a broken nose.

Halifax Regional Police contacted SiRT who have begun its investigation into the matter.

The Serious Incident Response Team is responsible for investigating incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing. Investigations are under the direction and control of the independent civilian interim director John Scott.
