On May 28 at 7:26 p.m., officers responded to the 0-100 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth, for a weapons complaint. The investigation revealed that a 61-year-old man was in a verbal altercation with a 69-year-old male suspect outside a local business. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach area. The suspect was subdued by staff until police arrival and he was taken into custody. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was taken into custody and will appear in court on May 29 to face charges of attempted murder and numerous weapons-related charges.
