UPDATE

On December 28, at 8:45 a.m., HRP officers were engaged in the search for the suspect from the previously reported stabbing incident that occurred on Leaman Drive in Dartmouth overnight. The investigating officers checked an address located in the 0-100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth and were able to determine that the suspect was present at that location. An arrest warrant was obtained and the HRP Emergency Response Team executed the warrant at 12:15 p.m.. The suspect was located inside the residence and was taken into custody without incident. A 26-year-old Dartmouth man has been held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court located at 277 Pleasant Street in Dartmouth on December 29 to face charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

On December 28, shortly after midnight, officers responded to a stabbing call in the 0 - 100 block of Leaman Drive in Dartmouth. Officers located a 56-year-old victim who was stabbed in the lower jaw by a man known to him. He was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. This was not a random act as the victim and the suspect are known to each other. The matter is still under investigation by the Integrated General Investigation Section and attempts are underway to locate and arrest the suspect.
