A man sought by police for using a credit card stolen from a downtown bar has been arrested.

On March 20, a woman was out at a downtown Halifax bar when she realized that her purse, containing her credit card, had been stolen. When she reported the theft to the credit card company the following day, she was informed that someone had used her card at a number of businesses throughout HRM.

On April 8, police released pictures of the suspect taken from video surveillance. Police received several tips from the public following the publication of the pictures, which led to the identification of the suspect. Shortly after noon yesterday, officer assigned to the East Quick Response Unit arrested the suspect without incident at a residence on Evelyn Wood Place in Cole Harbour.

Following the investigation, a 49-year-old Cole Harbour man is now facing charges stemming from this incident. He was released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 9 to face 10 counts of use of a stolen credit card.
