A death that occurred last Sunday in Halifax has been ruled a homicide.

On October 5, at 9:24 p.m., police responded to Evan Hall, a memory care facility operated by Parkland Clayton Park, located at 156 Parkland Drive in Halifax for an assault that had occurred earlier in the evening. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 74-year-old woman got into an altercation with a 91-year-old woman. The 91-year-old woman fell to the floor during the altercation and sustained serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS and passed away on October 6 at 9:35 p.m.

An autopsy conducted yesterday concluded the death resulted from complications relating to injuries received during the altercation, and the matter has been ruled a homicide.

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the death.
