(12:50 p.m.) This Saturday and Sunday, Halifax Regional Police (HRP), Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB) will host the 10th Annual Cops 'n Kids Camp. Every year, Tim Horton Children's Foundation sponsors the camp which is held at the Tim Horton Children's Camp in Tatamagouche. The participating organizations invited a total of 65 youths from Grade 7 as well as 16 youth leaders from Grades 10-12 from across Halifax Regional Municipality. Police officers and volunteers from HRP, RCMP, HRSB, HRM Recreation and the Military Police will serve as counselors/leaders at the camp. Over the weekend, the youth will participate in activities that focus on personal development, self-esteem building and making positive life choices as well as promoting healthy physical and emotional well-being. The camp is a way to "bridge the gap" between police and youth by establishing and maintaining positive relationships and fostering connections between officers and youth.
