Investigators in the Financial Crimes Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged three Quebec men with numerous fraud related offences.
On October 24 at 3:47 a.m., Halifax Regional Police received a call about an indecent act where a man was urinating on a tree at the intersection of Robie Street and Quinpool Road. The man then entered a vehicle which travelled outbound on Quinpool Road. Responding units followed the vehicle and located it at Needs Convenience Store on Herring Cove Road.
Upon further investigation, officers arrested two of the three men in the vehicle for breach of court orders and another for obstructing a police officer. Officers arrested the men and seized their vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, officers determined the men had rented a house on Lier Ridge in Halifax approximately two weeks prior. During a search of this address at 9:30 p.m., officers located materials used to produce fraudulent credit cards as well as items that officers allege were obtained fraudulently.
Investigators have since charged 20-year-old Kevin Clairsant-Letourneau of Montreal, Quebec; 22-year-old Marvin Pierre Coriolan of Terrebonne, Quebec; 23-year-old Karim Agba of Montreal, Quebec; and with the following offences:
-Fraud over $5000
-Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
-Possession of a stolen credit card X 2
-Instrument for use in forging a credit card
-Possession of property obtained by crime
Clairsant-Letourneau also faces a charge of obstructing a police officer while Coriolan faces three counts of breach of probation and Agba faces four counts of breach of probation. They were remanded into custody for the remainder of the weekend and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to answer to the charges.
