Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there may be some traffic delays throughout the city on Sunday, Aug. 16 as runners participate in the 30th Annual Navy 10K Run.

Runners will start and finish at the corner of Almon and Gottingen streets, with 5K participants doing one loop of the north end of the city and 10K participants completing two loops.

The race route heads south on Gottingen, then right on Black Street, right on Fuller Terrace, left on Bloomfield Street, right on Agricola Street and then merging into Highland Avenue. From Highland Avenue participants will turn left on Normandy Drive, left on Rosemeade Avenue, right on Hillside Avenue, right on Leeds Street, and then onto Novalea Drive. The race concludes where it began on Gottingen Street.

Competitors in both races will start at 9:15 a.m., and are instructed to stay as close to the right side of the road as possible to allow traffic, especially transit buses, to pass freely. The traffic advisory is expected to last until approximately 11:30 a.m.

Halifax Regional Police will be on hand and motorists are asked to slow down and keep an eye out for runners as they travel through the aforementioned areas on Sunday.
