Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there may be some traffic delays in south-end Halifax this Saturday, Nov. 14, during the Oktoberfest 5-kilometre run.

The event begins at noon outside the Homburg Centre at Saint Mary’s University. From there the participants will run south on Tower Road, loop through Point Pleasant Park and return to the university again on Tower Road. The entire run is expected to be done by 1 p.m.

Halifax Regional Police will be on hand to help direct traffic while the runners are on the street. Motorists are advised to obey officers on site and to watch for runners in the area.

The 7th annual Oktoberfest was held this past September in downtown Halifax; however, the associated run was rescheduled to this weekend. The festival is a celebration of German food and culture, while also raising funds for the Military Family Resource Center in Halifax and the German Canadian Association of Nova Scotia.
