Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Search/Charges

Two men face charges as a result of a traffic stop and drug search conducted yesterday in Halifax.

On August 22 at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Tamarack Drive and the Cowie Hill Connector. The lone occupant, 43-year-old Timothy Bowers, was found to be in possession of Hydromorphone and a Conducted Energy Device (CED), commonly known as a taser. He was arrested and taken into police custody.

 At approximately 3:50 p.m. on the same day, members in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit, assisted by the West Quick Response Unit, conducted a search of an apartment in the 0-100 block of Ridge Valley Road. Sixty-five-year-old Cecil Bowers was arrested at the scene without incident and the subsequent search resulted in officers seizing Hydromorphone, LSD, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Timothy Bowers faces a number of drug and weapons charges including:

5(2) CDSA - Drug possession for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts) Section 88 CC - Possession of a weapon dangerous to the publicSection 90 CC - Carrying a concealed weapon Section 91.2 CC - Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon Section 94 CC - Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in a vehicleSection 145 CC - Breach of recognizance 

Cecil Bowers was charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.
