Traffic stop leads to weapons charges

Three men face charges as a result of a traffic stop yesterday morning in Dartmouth. 

At approximately 4:10 a.m. on September 12, Halifax Regional Police patrol members located a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the road on Magazine Hill, inbound toward Dartmouth. Officers conducting the traffic stop located two firearms and ammunition during the stop. Three men were taken into custody without incident and interviewed by members of the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shane Robert Schrader of Lower Sackville and 31-year-old Sidney Maurice Scott and 28-year-old Mathew Gordon Griffiths, both of Dartmouth, have all been charged with numerous weapons-related offences. Griffiths has also been charged with two counts of breaching a probation order. All three are to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
