Two men face charges after a drug search in Dartmouth on Tuesday night.

At 10:40 p.m., officers in the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, along with officers in the East Quick Response Unit, executed a search warrant at an address in the 0-100 block of Jackson Road. Officers seized a quantity of cocaine, prescription medication and an undisclosed amount of money. Two men were arrested at the scene without incident.

Fifty-five-year-old Russell Crowell of Dartmouth and 24-year-old Christian Gajadhar of Halifax are both facing one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking. They were held in custody and appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court yesterday.

Drug activity often involves violence that puts innocent citizens at risk and is detrimental to the overall safety of our communities. The Quick Response Unit is an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues. Citizens are encouraged to report drug activity to police by calling 902-490-5020.
