Fatal Shooting Update

Investigators in the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are in the preliminary stages of investigating last night’s fatal shooting.

On November 14 at 11:07 p.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of shots fired on Cragg Avenue in Halifax. Officers responded to the area and found a 58-year-old Halifax man, who had been shot, suffering from life-threatening injuries outside of a residence at 2412 Cragg Avenue. EHS transported the man to the QEII Health Sciences Centre where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is anticipated to be completed this afternoon. The victim’s name is being withheld pending the completion of the autopsy.

Forensics identification officers are processing the scene and homicide detectives are conducting a canvass of the neighbourhood.  There is no suspect information available at this time. Investigators are making a plea to the community asking anyone with information about this fatal shooting to call 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.

At this time, it is too early to say whether this fatal shooting is connected to Saturday’s homicide of Shakur Jefferies and/or the shooting in Bedford on Sunday morning, however, investigators are exploring all the possibilities.
