No charges will be laid in relation to a weapons complaint that occurred earlier today in Dartmouth.
At 12:06 p.m. police received two reports of a man carrying a possible firearm on his back and riding a bicycle on Farrell Road, heading toward Windmill Road. Officers flooded the area and took a 32-year-old man into custody outside of a residence in the 0-100 block of Albro Lake Road at 12:15 p.m. and located a pellet gun at the back door of this residence.
The investigation revealed that the 32-year-old man had found the pellet gun in a dumpster on Jackson Road. He put it in his backpack and was on his way home to call police to come and retrieve it from him. As there was no intent to commit a criminal offence, no charges will be laid in this matter.
While officers were trying to locate the man on the bike, another man was observed attempting to flee the area. He was taken into custody and a quantity of drugs was located on him. The investigation revealed that the man had an outstanding warrant and was remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. An 18-year-old Dartmouth man will appear in court on a later date to face one count of possession of drugs.
