Halifax Regional Police has determined that a reported shooting at a bus earlier this month was not a shooting.

On March 18, at 12:10 a.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to the 7100 block of Chebucto Road for a report from Halifax Transit bus driver of a shot fired at a bus. The bus driver reported being cut off by a vehicle near the Armdale rotary. When the bus reached Chebucto Road, the bus driver saw that the vehicle had pulled over and then heard what he thought was a shot fired at his bus. Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the vehicle or the driver. The bus was examined but no bullet hole was found.

Officers reviewed video surveillance from the bus and surrounding businesses. They determined that after the vehicle stopped on Chebucto Road, the male driver exited the vehicle, reached down to the ground and threw either a chunk of ice or snow at the bus.

Officers are still looking to speak with the driver of the vehicle. The driver is described as a white man in his thirties, wearing a yellow vest, dark pants and dark jacket. He was driving a single cab, red pickup truck with yellow plow on the front, a salt spreader on back and a yellow light on roof.
