Update: Train/pedestrian collision

Halifax Regional Police have cleared the scene but are continuing the investigation into a collision between a train and pedestrian resulting in the death of a woman.

At approximately 9:18 a.m., police received a report of a collision between a train travelling towards Halifax and a woman on the track. The collision occurred near the 270 block of Rocky Lake Drive.

A 20-year-old Bedford woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s identity will not be released. Our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this difficult time.

The investigation into this tragic incident will continue with the assistance of CN police. Police do not suspect foul play. This incident has been reported to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
