Halifax Regional Police has concluded the investigation into a fatal pedestrian/vehicle collision that occurred earlier this year.

On May 3 at 11:05 a.m., officers responded to a car/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Thistle Street and Victoria Road in Dartmouth. A pickup truck travelling south on Victoria Road had a green light and proceeded to make a left turn onto Thistle Street. While turning, the truck struck a 57-year-old woman crossing Thistle Street in a marked crosswalk. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

The investigation by the Collision Investigation Unit determined that no charges will be laid against the driver of the pickup truck as the “do not walk” signal was displayed at the time the driver made the left-hand turn.

Our thoughts remain with everyone who was affected by this tragic incident.
