Update to weapons complaint

The General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division has charged a man after an incident in Spryfield this morning.

At 6 a.m. on June 14, patrol officers responded to a residence in the Layton Road area of Spryfield after a report of a man threatening people known to him with a knife and a sensory irritant. Upon their arrival, police entered the residence and took a man into custody. During the investigation, police determined that the man had given a false name and that he was in breach of his court orders.

A 25-year-old Halifax man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later this afternoon to face charges of breach of a court orders, public mischief, resisting arrest, being unlawfully in a dwelling and uttering threats.

Investigators have concluded their investigation into the weapons complaint and no weapons charges are warranted at this time.
