Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Urban Forest Master Plan street tree pruning will start tomorrow (Tuesday) on Inglis Street between Marlborough and Beaufort avenues.
Last winter hundreds of trees along 10 kilometres of city streets were trimmed as we perform preventative maintenance to our urban canopy.
The Urban Forest Master Plan outlines the value in being proactive with street tree pruning activities. Damage to street trees – as well as nearby utility lines – can be avoided with more regular cycles of tree pruning, rather than simply reacting on an “as needed” basis whenever there’s a problem.
Regular pruning can also extend the life and improve the canopy of street trees.
Work along Inglis Street will take place this week between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Inglis Street will be open to traffic however there will be temporary lane closures and parking will not be available on Inglis Street between Marlborough Avenue and Beaufort Avenue while pruning takes place.
This work is expected to be completed by Friday (Dec. 19).
Motorists should expect delays in the area and are encouraged to use alternative routes.
The municipality apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause.
