Vehicle Collision GO#16-44815 East Division

Last night at approximately 5:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 111 prior to the Portland Street exit in Dartmouth. A car travelling southbound on Highway 111 drove onto the southbound shoulder of the roadway, travelled across both southbound lanes before striking a guardrail and a lamp post. The lamp post fell onto the inner most lane of the northbound lane of Highway 111. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. EHS paramedics attended to the 39-year-old man who was driving the car and transported him to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation attended the scene to remove the lamp post. The investigation into the cause of the crash is on-going.
