Halifax Regional Police is investigating a vehicle/cyclist collision that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At 6:20 a.m., police responded to a vehicle/cyclist collision at the Armdale Roundabout. A 35-year-old male cyclist travelling from Herring Cove Road collided with a minivan already in the roundabout. The cyclist was thrown from his bicycle and landed on the roadway. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS. The driver of the minivan was not injured. The investigation revealed that the cyclist did not slow down or yield to traffic when he entered the roundabout.

The male cyclist was issued a summary offence ticket under section 135(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act for entering a roundabout and failing to yield to traffic already in the circle. This ticket carries a fine of $176.45.

Police remind motorists and cyclists that road safety is a shared responsibility.
