Halifax Regional Police responded to two vehicle/pedestrian collisions that occurred today in HRM.

At 10:54 a.m., a woman crossing Woodlawn Road in Dartmouth was hit by a car travelling west on Woodlawn Road. She was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. This ticket carries a fine of $406.45.

At 11:29 a.m., police responded to an underground parking garage in the 0-100 block of Waterfront Drive in Bedford. A 91-year-old male pedestrian was hit and knocked to the ground by a vehicle driven by an 80-year-old woman. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and treated at the scene by EHS. At this time, this incident is under investigation and no charges have been laid.

Road safety is a shared responsibility. Motorists are reminded to slow down, pay attention and adjust their driving for the conditions. There is a crosswalk at every intersection, whether it is marked or not, and drivers must yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. Pedestrians are reminded to make eye contact with drivers and wait until vehicles come to a complete stop before attempting to cross the road.
