A man is facing assault and weapons charges after a disturbance earlier today in Halifax.
Shortly after midnight, plain clothes officers travelling in the 2100 block of Brunswick Street came upon two men involved in a physical altercation. As officers approached on foot, they observed the suspect pointing a knife at the victim. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and no one was injured. This is not believed to be a random act as both the suspect and the victim know one another.
Eighteen-year-old Donavin Andrew Diggs of Halifax faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and three counts of breaching a court order. He was held overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
