Two male youths face a number of weapons charges after being arrested in Dartmouth early this morning.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., police responded to Pinecrest Drive after receiving a call of two males acting suspiciously and one possibly armed with a gun. Police arrived and observed two males in the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive who matched the description of the suspects. The youths fled when they saw the police vehicle but were quickly located and arrested. A search of the area by a K-9 Unit resulted in a loaded handgun being located.
Two male youths aged 16 and 17 face the following charges:
Section 95 CC - Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm Section 88(1) CC - Possession of Weapons Dangerous Section 96 CC - Possession of a Weapon Obtained by an Offence Section 86(2) CC - Unsafe handling of a Firearm Section 92(1) CC - Unauthorized Possession of firearm Section 117.01(1) CC - Possession of firearm Contrary to Court Order Section 177 CC - Trespass by Night
The 16-year-old youth faces four additional charges of breaching an undertaking. Both youths are scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court today.
