At approximately 1:20 a.m. Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a report of a possible gunshot being heard in the area of Prince Albert Road and Lawrence Street in Dartmouth.

On their arrival, officers obtained information that indicated that one potential gunshot had been heard in the area, however; it had occurred approximately 20 minutes prior to police being called.  Witnesses provided information to police about a suspicious vehicle and man that had been seen in the area at the time the sound was heard, however; no evidence could be located that would indicate a shot had been fired.

Halifax Regional Police officers working dayshift today (Monday) continued to follow up on the information and searched the area in the daylight with the assistance of an RCMP Police Service Dog.  Officers located additional witnesses and evidence that supports the fact that a firearm had been discharged.  HRP is currently on scene canvassing the area and searching for addition evidence.  There is no indication of anyone having been injured and no damage to property.  The investigation will continue and will be conducted by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
