Last night at approximately 8:25 p.m., Halifax Regional Police located a vehicle that was travelling toward the MacKay Bridge on Hwy 111 in Dartmouth. Information had been received that there may be a firearm located in the vehicle.
A high risk vehicle stop was conducted on Hwy 111 near the exit to Hwy 118 by HRP K9, patrol and Emergency Response Team members. Three men from the Metro area were taken into custody without incident. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle. Highway 111 was closed to traffic for a period of time but has since reopened.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and is in the preliminary stages at this time. A decision on charges will be made when the investigation is complete.
