Thursday, Mar. 17, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality’s Planning and Development team is inviting residents to help them build momentum for the Centre Plan by attending the public kick-off event being held next Monday, Mar. 21, 6 to 9 p.m. at Alderney Landing.

The Centre Plan is phase three of HRMbyDesign, which is focused on creating a dense, livable and prosperous Regional Centre (Dartmouth and Halifax urban core) that will result in sustained economic, environmental and social benefits across the entire municipality.

The overall project objective is to replace existing, out-of-date land use regulations with a fresh, unified plan and policies that will protect the scale and character of existing neighbourhoods while removing barriers to well-designed and appropriately scaled development.

We need your help; through a comprehensive public consultation process to be delivered over the coming months, we are going to turn ‘what if’ into ‘how to’. All are welcome at the family-friendly kick-off event on Monday, Mar. 21, at Alderney Landing as we launch this exciting project that will shape the future of our Regional Centre.

If you are unable to attend the event in person, we invite you to get hands on at www.centreplan.ca; complete the brief survey, check out our progress, and sign up to receive project updates.
