Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Transit is advising passengers that the Woodside ferry has resumed 15-minute service during peak travel times.

The Christopher Stannix had been out of service since July 13 for mechanical issues with the propulsion system. A temporary solution was identified and implemented; however, the ferry will require additional work later this year to permanently fix the problem. Halifax Transit is awaiting a final report from the manufacturer before that work can take place.

Halifax Transit will advise passengers via a Public Service Announcement, social media and on transit’s web page when the Christopher Stannix will need to be removed from service once again. It is anticipated that the Craig Blake, Halifax Transit’s newest harbour ferry, will be in service when that happens, ensuring no loss of service for passengers using the Woodside ferry.

Halifax Transit regrets any inconvenience caused by this service disruption and is working diligently to ensure no further loss of harbour ferry service.
