Youth arrested after stabbing incident

Police have arrested a male youth following a stabbing incident that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At 6:50 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Barrington Street after a report was received that a man had been stabbed. Officers were on scene quickly and discovered that the suspect had fled on foot. The 38-year-old male victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and he remains there at this time.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have arrested a 17-year-old male youth from Halifax in relation to this incident. He is currently in police custody and will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon to face one count of attempted murder and two counts of breaching probation. Through the investigation it was determined that the victim and the suspect were known to one another and the stabbing had occurred during an altercation between the two.
