(11:45 a.m.)A man faces charges after a drug search yesterday in Herring Cove.

On May 9, officers attended a residence on Oceanbreeze Avenue after workers in the area noticed a strong smell of marijuana emitting from a property. The smell was confirmed to be coming from a detached building on the property. A search warrant was obtained and officers seized a quantity of marijuana plants, marijuana and cultivation equipment.

A 46-year-old Herring Cove man was arrested at the scene without incident. He faces charges of cultivation of cannabis and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He was released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
