Police request public assistance – Dartmouth vehicle collision hit & run

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance to identify the driver involved in a hit and run that occurred in Dartmouth on December 22.

At 8:44 p.m., a black 2015 Hyundai Elantra heading northbound was stopped in the middle lane at a red light on Main Street at Major Street when it was rear ended by a silver GMC 2500 truck travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the truck then backed up and turned right onto Major Street, leaving the scene of the accident. No plate number was obtained for the truck, however, it had an extended cab with a short box and fender flares over the wheel wells. The driver of the truck is described as a white man in his forties or fifties. The 26-year old male driver of the Hyundai was not injured, however, his vehicle sustained major damage to the rear end as a result of the collision. 

Halifax Regional Police is asking anyone with information about this incident and/or the driver of the truck to contact police at 902-490-5016.
