Yes, YOU! Halifax Regional Police Launches Cadet Recruitment Campaign

Today, Halifax Regional Police is launching a recruitment campaign for its 2019 Cadet Class. Twenty-four successful applicants will be enrolled in the HRP Police Science Program beginning early 2019.

With the goal of attracting applicants who reflect and appreciate diversity in experiences, perspectives, beliefs, opinions, ages, faiths, races and sexual orientations, HRP is encouraging those who may not immediately see themselves as a police officer to apply.

“Our recruitment team is aiming to extend our reach with this campaign, dispelling myths about barriers to policing, and encouraging people in communities across Nova Scotia who put people first, extend respect, value integrity and believe in the power of relationships to apply,” says Inspector Dean Simmonds, Central Division Commander and Recruitment Team Lead. “For us, it’s about character.”

Successful applicants will become cadets in a 38-week police training program designed and delivered by HRP. The program will be based at the HRP training facility in Dartmouth. Upon successful completion of the training program, cadets will be offered employment with HRP.

HRP recruitment team members will be hosting information sessions online and in person, and will be available via email and Twitter to answer questions, relay their personal experiences with policing, and provide more information on the application process.
