At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, police responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Windmill Road near the base of Magazine Hill. A pickup truck travelling towards Sackville on Windmill Road went through a large puddle causing the vehicle to hydroplane and lose control. The truck struck a power pole which broke and subsequently caused a transformer to fall off the pole. The driver was transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the crash, the road was shut for several hours due to safety concerns while Nova Scotia Power crews secured the pole. The road was reopened at about 2 a.m. today (Sunday, January 25).
