Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Due to the severe weather, most municipal recreation facilities, including rinks, are delaying opening until noon today.
Staff will continue to monitor weather and road conditions throughout the morning and another decision will be made later today as to when facilities may open for afternoon and evening programming.
Residents are asked to call ahead to their recreation facility for a full update. Contact information is available online at www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.
To help crews properly clear the streets and sidewalks, residents are asked to stay off the roads and move any vehicles that may be parked on the street. Under Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, vehicles can be ticketed or towed any time of the day or night if they are parked in a manner that interferes with snow clearing.
