Bus service impacts due to paving work at Bridge and Woodside ferry terminals

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and Halifax Transit riders that the bus loops at the Bridge and Woodside Ferry Terminals will be repaved from the evening of Friday, Aug. 15 to 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18. 

Woodside Ferry Terminal impacts:  

From 9:30 p.m. on Friday Aug. 15 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, there will be no bus service to the Woodside Ferry Terminal, Halifax Transit buses will detour and parking in the lower parking area of the bus loop will be temporarily closed. Bus routes 6+ and 67 will service bus stops on Pleasant Street.  

Bridge Terminal impacts: 

  • From 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 and all day Saturday, Aug. 16: Bus bays 9 to 16 will be closed. Buses will service bays 1 to 8. 
  • Sunday, Aug. 17: Bus bays 1 to 8 will be closed. Buses will service bays 9 to 16. 

Parking impacts: 

  • Parking adjacent to the Dartmouth High Field to the Bridge Terminal the on west side of Thistle Street will be unavailable until paving and concrete work is completed 
  • Motorists are asked to park on the Dartmouth Common side of Thistle Street or use alternative parking. 

Also, the municipality is advising residents that ongoing construction at the Woodside Terminal has been extended to Saturday, Aug. 30. For more information, visit our website. 

This necessary work is part of the Regional Council-approved 2025/26 Capital Plan, which includes investment in Halifax Transit facilities, including terminals, transit centres and parking areas. These improvements are essential to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable transit service and will enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
