Civic address information
Civic Addressing staff manage and assign all civic addresses within the municipality. They also approve all new street names and confirm community boundaries. Civic addressing is responsible for correcting addressing issues that may result in renaming and or renumbering of existing streets under By-law C-300 [PDF] and Administrative Order #29 [PDF].

New addresses and address changes
New civic addresses are assigned and changed daily for new construction and development. We are currently in the process of replacing the civic address and street changes update process and weekly PDFs containing address changes are no longer available.
In the interim, the following datasets in our Open Data may be of interest:
Civic Addresses - Points representing the geographic location of civic addresses that includes civic number, street name and community information. To find newly added civic addresses (filter DATE_ACT by date) and updated civic addresses (filter SYS_DATE by date).
Street Centrelines - Single line representation of every street in HRM with associated street name, block face ranges and community names.
Residents may also use ExploreHRM, an interactive web map application that shoes the municipality’s base geography, administrative boundaries, civic addresses, city facilities and more.
Civic Address History
The Municipal Archives maintains information on many historical changes to street names and numbers. This information may be found here: Civic Address History | Source Guides | Halifax
Street Information Map
The Winter - Street Information map is a web-based, interactive map allowing users to view street information pertaining to Winter Operations; for example snow priority levels, street ownership, street maintenance, etc.
