Motion: 
That the Board of Police Commissioners request that the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) direct the Policy Advisor for the Board of Police Commissioners to work with the Community Safety Office, the Halifax Regional Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to:

1. Identify areas of overlap between recommendations and actions contained in the Wortley Report, Defund Report, Public Safety Strategy and Mass Casualty Commission Final Report; and

2. Prepare a staff report outlining these areas of overlap and associated recommendations for consideration as a part of the Board’s 2023-2024 workplan.

Board of Police Commissioners Policy Subcommittee Priorities [PDF]
Motion: 
That the Board of Police Commissioners (BoPC) direct the Policy Subcommittee to adopt the following as its first two areas of focus:

1. Review Halifax Regional Police’s policies related to Extra Duty and Off Duty employment, and in consultation with the Chief, draft recommended changes and additions for the BoPC’s consideration; and

2. In consultation with the Chief, draft a Board of Police Commissioners policy related to policing and homelessness for the BoPC’s consideration.

10.4.2 Board of Police Commissioners’ Logo Report [PDF]
Motion: 
That the Board of Police Commissioners:

1. Request permission from Regional Council to use the Official Corporate Coat of Arms of the Halifax Regional Municipality as a part of its logo; and

2. Subject to Regional Council’s approval, adopt the following as its official logo as per Attachment 1.
