Providing Halifax residents access to recreation experiences while promoting healthy lifestyles, vibrant communities, and sustainable environments.

With our many waterfront parks, walking trails, beaches, and recreation centres, Parks & Recreation offers a variety of activities to suit everyone's interests. From little kickers soccer, to swimming and skating lessons, to Zumba or photography, there's a recreation program for everyone.

Programs & Activities

With over 50 Community and Recreation Centres around the municipality, recreation services offers a variety of recreation programs to children, youth, adults, and seniors all year! From little kickers soccer, to swimming and skating lessions, to zumba or photography; there's a recreation program available for everyone!

Beaches

Learn about our supervised beaches, outdoor pools and splash pads. Lifeguards are on duty from June 30 until August 31.

Summer Camps

Our summer camps are focused on fun, with every day consisting of a balanced mix of activities to stimulate the mind, get the creative juices flowing, and allow the participants to be active in a safe, supervised environment.

Community & Recreation Centres

In addition to 25 municipally-operated recreation centres, there are also 25 community-operated recreation centres.

Free Equipment Loan

Are you interested in living an active lifestyle? Are you up for trying something new? Many of our recreation facilities have equipment you can borrow to help you be active on your own time, for FREE!

Facility Bookings

If you're looking to get a group together for a ball game, a hockey game, or a family picnic, Facilities will help you secure the perfect location.
