Councillor Iona Stoddard

Councillor Iona Stoddard has lived within the vibrant community of District 12 for more than two decades with her husband John Stoddard. Together, they raised four children.

Councillor Stoddard has always valued community, diversity and the phrase “be the change you want to see,” so any spare time or energy she has goes to volunteering with local organizations and participating with community committees. Iona was honoured to have been a 2019 recipient of a Volunteer Award from Mayor Mike Savage in recognition of her dedication in supporting and improving Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).

Councillor Stoddard’s professional career has been varied including work with both the legal and finance fields. She has worked in management positions and as a judicial assistant for the Provincial Court. She was also the shop steward and vice president for Local 7 at the NSGEU.

 Councillor Stoddard is a passionate problem solver, and believes that “together, we can be the change we want to see”.
