What happens after I apply?

The selection process is similar to a job competition:

  1. Screening: The Volunteer Programs Coordinator will review all applications and screen in those that meet all of the volunteer position criteria.
  2. Interview: A panel of two to three people will interview applicants to determine if a volunteer position with Halifax Regional Police is a good fit for them and the organization.
  3. Security clearance requirements: Applicants will be asked to consent to various security processes, including a police background check, a polygraph examination, and personal reference checks.
  4. Orientation and training: Applicants will be scheduled for the next orientation and training session. After successfully completing the training, applicants are full-fledged volunteers with Halifax Regional Police.
