14-118669 / 14-118764 - Collision leads to impaired / weapons charges

On August 17, at 10:22 p.m., police responded to the 800 block of the Waverley Road to a report of a multi-vehicles collision.  A pickup truck operated by a 40-year-old Dartmouth man was inbound and lost control striking three unoccupied vehicles that were parked in front of a residence. Contents of the truck were thrown all over the road and even landed inside one of the parked vehicles after smashing through the rear window. Amongst the debris scatted on the roadway was a firearm. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, sustained minor facial injuries and was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment.  He was arrested and is facing the following charges: Impaired driving and five weapon related offences. Further charges are pending as the investigation continues. The driver was eventually returned to the police station and released on a promise to appear in Dartmouth Provincial court at a later date. The Waverley Road remained closed along the 800 block until 2 a.m.
