On January 31, at about 9:00 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the 1200 block of Hollis Street in Halifax for a report of a man with a firearm who wished to harm himself and police. This man was wanted by police for several assault files which were still under investigation. Patrol members attended the residence and shortly thereafter members of the Emergency Response Team arrived. The man eventually exited the apartment and was taken into custody, a woman was also arrested inside the apartment. Currently the man is still in custody and officers are preparing to search the apartment under the authority of a search warrant. The 21-year-old Halifax man will appear in court on Monday to face numerous assault and threat charges. The investigation is continuing and more charges are anticipated upon the completion of the search.
