15-18362 - Hit and Run motor vehicle collision

On February 8, at 6 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the intersection of Portland Street and Carver Street for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. A Honda Fit travelling Westbound on Portland Street passed through the intersection of Carver Street when the second vehicle, believed to be a Pontiac Grand Am, travelling Southbound on Carver Street,  failed to stop at the red light and hit the Honda Fit. The impact caused the Honda Fit to flip over onto its roof.  The second vehicle then fled the scene.

The driver of the Honda Fit was transported to hospital by EHS for medical assessment with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a white or light colored Grand AM and was last seen travelling west on Portland Street. It is believed that this vehicle would have sustained front end damage from the collision. The matter remains under investigation.
