15-40858 Police seek help identifying man who stole jewellery

On May 13, officers assigned to the Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit arrested the accused as he attempted to sell stolen items at a pawn shop on Windmill Road in Dartmouth. He was taken into custody and was also found in possession of a vehicle that was stolen from the province of Québec in early April.

Forty-two-year-old Marc-Joseph Pellerin of Sainte Marie de Kent, New Brunswick, appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on May 14. In relation to this matter, he faces charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, breach of undertaking and trafficking in property obtained by crime. He remains at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility and will return to court on May 26.

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance to help identify a man who stole a gold chain and loose diamond from a jewellery store located on the first floor of Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth.

On March 29, 2015, a man was in the jewellery store looking at a gold chain worth approximately $2,500 as well as a diamond worth approximately $5,500. While considering the items, he suddenly fled from the store with both the chain and diamond without paying for them.

Police are releasing pictures of the suspect who is described as a white man, 30-40 years of age, with dark facial hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark toque, blue sweater or shirt, faded blue jeans and heavy steel toed boots. He drove away from the mall in a red newer-model Toyota Corolla.
