Several calls were received through 911, 490-5020 and 311 regarding traffic issues in the Damacus Road area in Bedford during the late morning early afternoon. Drivers were complaining that they had not moved for over one hour in traffic. Members of the Halifax Regional Police West Division were dispatched to the area. The was no apparent sign to indicate the reason for the delays, officers could not locate any accidents or obstructions that may be causing the delays. Several  attempts were made to  clear the area. All in bound traffic was stopped as members attempted to alleviate the congestion in the park and people leaving the area. This caused a large backup of people trying to enter the park. In the end officers spent several hours in the area and traffic was so heavy attempting to get into the area that it was gridlocked. Police are asking the motoring public to be  patient as there is a large number of people in the retail areas of HRM and this is causing the traffic delays
