Owner of money located

Halifax Regional Police has located the owner of the money that was found in Dartmouth earlier this week.

On April 20 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a woman who was out for a walk came upon a sum of money scattered on the street at the intersection of Laurier Street and Woodland Avenue. She picked up the bills and contacted police. A media release was issued on April 21 in an attempt to locate the owner.

Yesterday, a man contacted police and advised that he had lost a sum of money in the area on April 20. He was able to provide the correct denomination of the billsand additional information which allowed officers to verify the validity of his claim. The money has since been turned over to him.

We extend our sincere thanks to the woman who found the money and did the right thing by turning it over to police so that it could be returned to the rightful owner

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance finding the owner of a sum of money found in Dartmouth yesterday.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., a woman who was out for a walk came upon a sum of money scattered on the street at the intersection of Laurier Street and Woodland Avenue. She picked up the bills and contacted police. Officers have not been able to identify or locate the owner. 

The owner or anyone with information regarding the owner is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5016. In order to claim the money, the person must be able to specify the amount of money, what denominations and any other useful information to determine ownership.
